About the role

Role overview

Join Rain as a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate the company’s cloud infrastructure. You’ll work closely with a cloud team to automate operations, improve observability, and ensure strong reliability and security—while shaping infrastructure and architectural decisions.

Key missions

  • AWS cloud infrastructure: design, build, and maintain scalable, secure infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt (IaC).
  • Kubernetes (EKS): manage and evolve EKS clusters, including node group management, autoscaling with Karpenter, and workload reliability.
  • CI/CD: own and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI to enable fast, reliable, and secure delivery.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate complex infrastructure concepts clearly to engineering peers and business stakeholders.
  • 5+ years managing large-scale production environments; comfortable with architectural complexity.
  • Strong understanding of the “why” behind Kubernetes internals and cloud networking.
  • Security, secrets management, and observability treated as core platform features.
  • Code everything mindset: replace manual work with scalable, DRY Infrastructure as Code.
  • Expertise in secure GitLab CI pipelines and versioned Helm charts across environments.
  • Bash proficiency for environment management (Python is a plus).
  • Proven ability to scale infrastructure with Terraform/Terragrunt using modular and reusable patterns.
  • Deep AWS/EKS knowledge: EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC networking, especially in multi-account EKS setups.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes internals experience: CNI, RBAC, Affinity/Taints, and running complex workloads (e.g., StatefulSets/DaemonSets).
  • Observability: build dashboards and alerting with Prometheus and Grafana.

Nice-to-haves

  • Python proficiency (not required but specifically called out as a plus).
