About the role

Role overview

Senior DevOps Engineer for an AWS-based data and container platform. You will own and operate EMR (Hadoop) infrastructure while also supporting EKS (Kubernetes) and event-driven services, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure for data and application platforms
  • Own and manage EMR (Hadoop) clusters, including:
    • Building EMR environments from scratch
    • Managing, optimizing, and stabilizing existing clusters
    • Ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability for data workloads
  • Support and operate EKS (Kubernetes) environments across multiple infrastructures
  • Implement and maintain AWS Lambda functions and event-driven architectures
  • Manage IAM, security policies, and access controls across AWS services
  • Design and support networking components (VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups)
  • Collaborate with data, platform, and application teams to support production workloads
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure/platform issues across EMR, EKS, and AWS services
  • Improve automation, monitoring, and operational processes
  • Contribute to infrastructure standards, documentation, and best practices

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of experience with AWS-based infrastructure
  • Proven experience building EMR environments from scratch
  • Strong ownership mindset for platform reliability and scalability
  • Experience leading or taking over critical infrastructure components
  • Ability to mentor team members and influence technical direction
  • Hands-on experience managing EMR/Hadoop clusters
  • Experience supporting EKS (Kubernetes) environments
  • Knowledge of AWS Lambda, IAM, and AWS Networking

Nice to have

  • Experience with large-scale data platforms and data governance
  • Experience working in distributed or remote-first teams
