Senior Devops Engineer

Role Overview

Senior DevOps Engineer responsible for advancing infrastructure automation, operational excellence, and reliability at scale. You will help shape infrastructure and tooling direction while mentoring engineers and improving service availability.

Responsibilities

• Implement infrastructure automation, monitoring, and system reliability practices targeting 100% service availability
• Perform forensic Linux administration, troubleshoot unfamiliar Linux systems/services
• Apply SecOps mindset: secure automation and hardened Linux administration
• Champion DevOps best practices including:
  • CI/CD
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • Zero-touch provisioning
• Drive release management, incident management, capacity planning, and operational readiness
• Instrument services with visualization to speed triage and reduce MTTR (with no direct access to systems)
• Provide technical influence across the organization and mentor DevOps/engineering team members
• Proactively improve system resiliency; lead infrastructure/cloud/networking (incl. BGP) and automation strategy
• Participate in on-call rotation with strong customer empathy
• Own and improve SOPs and system documentation
• Research, prototype, and implement new technologies across cloud, virtualization, and hardware

Requirements

• Strong Linux systems administration with deep understanding of hardware interaction (CPU, memory, disk, networking)
• Advanced automation/scripting using:
  • Ansible
  • Bash
  • Python
  • Packer
  • Terraform
• Hands-on AWS experience (e.g., EC2, IAM, VPC) plus provisioning with Terraform/Packer
• Datacenter operations experience (e.g., racking/stacking and remote system management)
• Experience managing systems at scale with zero-touch provisioning
• Monitoring systems management and building custom dashboards for observability
• Solid Linux networking knowledge; BGP and DNS experience is a plus
• Passion for operational excellence, security, and performance
• Ability to self-manage, communicate effectively, and collaborate with diverse technical teams
• Ability/willingness to learn new technologies

Nice to Have

• Experience with network visibility/observability tools such as Kentik or Splunk
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD tools and pipeline architecture
• Experience designing/maintaining RESTful APIs following best practices
• Understanding of release management in large-scale environments
