Senior Devops Engineer

Role Overview

Senior DevOps Engineer responsible for advancing infrastructure automation and operational excellence. You’ll help shape infrastructure and tooling direction with a strong focus on reliability, scale, and security (SecOps mindset).

Responsibilities

• Implement infrastructure automation, monitoring, and system reliability practices targeting 100% service availability
• Perform forensic system administration and troubleshoot unfamiliar Linux systems and services
• Champion DevOps best practices: CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and zero-touch provisioning
• Apply best practices in release management, incident management, capacity planning, and operational readiness
• Instrument services with visualization/observability to reduce MTTR and enable no direct access to systems
• Provide technical influence across engineering peers and mentor DevOps/engineering team members
• Proactively improve system resiliency; implement technical direction for infrastructure, cloud, networking (BGP), and automation strategy
• Participate in an on-call rotation with strong incident responsiveness and customer empathy
• Own and improve standard operating procedures and system documentation
• Research, prototype, and implement new technologies across cloud, virtualization, and hardware platforms

Requirements

• Strong Linux systems administration background, including how Linux interacts with hardware (CPU, memory, disk, networking)
• Advanced scripting/automation with: Ansible, Bash, Python, Packer, Terraform
• Hands-on AWS experience (e.g., EC2, IAM, VPC) and provisioning with Terraform/Packer
• Datacenter operations experience (e.g., racking, stacking, remote system management)
• Ability to manage and configure systems at scale with zero-touch provisioning approaches
• Monitoring systems experience and ability to build custom observability dashboards
• Solid Linux networking fundamentals (Router → Switch → Server → Virtualization → Linux → Service); BGP and DNS are a plus
• Passion for operational excellence, security, and performance
• Strong communication, self-management, and collaboration across technical teams
• Willingness to learn new technologies

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kentik or Splunk (or similar network visibility/observability tools)
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD tools and pipeline architecture
• RESTful API design/development and maintenance (coding best practices)
• Experience with release management in large-scale environments
