Senior DevOps Engineer

Role: Senior DevOps Engineer (Fully Remote)

Chromatic is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to help secure, stabilize, and architect its AWS infrastructure as it grows across self-serve and enterprise needs.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve security posture: access controls, secrets management, vulnerability triage, and audit logging.
• Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
• Partner with product and engineering teams for infrastructure planning, security reviews, and ensuring CI/CD and developer tooling include security by default.
• Participate in on-call rotation: respond to incidents and drive mitigation through resolution.

Requirements

• 5+ years deploying and operating containerized applications in AWS.
• 5+ years hands-on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (using Terraform).
• Intermediate networking fundamentals: firewalls, load balancers, DNS, VPC architecture/peering, and zero-trust network access (uses Tailscale).
• Intermediate cloud security: least-privilege IAM, secrets management, API authentication/abuse prevention, audit logging, network segmentation, and proactive vulnerability triage.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD (CircleCI, GitHub Actions), Docker, and orchestration.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with SOC 2 / GDPR or other compliance frameworks.
• Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB) and/or relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience working effectively in a distributed, remote-first environment.
• Perspective from non-traditional paths into software.

Location

• Fully remote for individuals based in the mainland US or Canada.

Compensation

• $155,000–$190,000 + equity.
