Role Overview

Senior DevOps Engineer (100% Remote, US)

You’ll join an established platform team supporting a large, multi-cluster production environment. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and operating Kubernetes-based container orchestration platforms at scale—primarily Kubernetes on AWS (EKS).

Responsibilities

• Manage and scale a large multi-cluster EKS environment (prod and non-prod) for customer-facing applications
• Stand up new clusters and expand existing infrastructure with application teams
• Drive Kubernetes version upgrades and streamline the upgrade process
• Improve environment elasticity, stability, and alerting/observability
• Support incident response and perform root cause analysis (from quick fixes to multi-week efforts)
• Partner with security and finance stakeholders on compliance and cost optimization initiatives
• Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call model, including periodic weekend rotation
• Collaborate with L1/NOC teams on troubleshooting
• Mentor engineers and contribute to a collaborative, cross-training culture
• Split effort roughly 80% hands-on execution and 20% strategic direction-setting

Requirements (Must-Have)

• Strong hands-on Terraform experience
• Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines
• Deep AWS EKS experience (AWS-specific; not Azure)
• GitLab experience (self-hosted and SaaS)
• Monitoring/observability tools: Splunk, New Relic, CloudWatch
