Senior Developer Success Engineer - West

Role overview

The Senior Developer Success Engineer (West) is a frontline technical expert for Temporal’s developer community. You help users deploy and scale Temporal in cloud-native environments, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, optimize performance, and build automation to improve the developer experience.

Responsibilities

• Work with cloud-native infrastructure across AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, and microservices
• Debug complex production and infrastructure issues and design infrastructure best practices
• Optimize cloud performance, reliability, and scalability for Temporal users
• Build and improve observability solutions (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus)
• Improve networking and traffic flows (e.g., load balancing, DNS, ingress/egress)
• Automate infrastructure operations using Terraform and related IaC approaches
• Communicate with developers and engineering/product teams to translate infrastructure challenges into solutions and platform improvements (including self-service/diagnostic tooling)

Requirements

• Based in the Pacific time zone (United States - West)
• 6+ years of developer experience
• Proficiency in one or more: Python, Java, Golang (Go), TypeScript
• Experience deploying and managing medium-to-large architectures (e.g., Kubernetes or Docker)
• Monitoring/observability experience with Prometheus and Grafana, including troubleshooting availability/performance
• 1+ year in a customer-facing role (internal or external)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; data-driven problem solving
• Experience working with remote teams

Nice to have

• Prior customer-facing experience (e.g., professional services consultant, solutions architect, solutions engineer)
• Experience with security certificate management
• Ability to translate customer use cases into Temporal design/architecture decisions

Compensation

• Estimated pay range: $140,000 – $180,000 (based on experience and location)
• Eligible for equity under Temporal’s plan
