Senior Developer, Authentication Experience

Role overview

As a Senior Developer on the Authentication Experience team, you’ll work on the end-to-end experience for signing in and unlocking 1Password—the first entry point into the apps for both business and consumer users.

What you’ll do

• Lead the development, testing, and debugging of production software systems for new and existing features.
• Ensure successful delivery and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and align technical execution.
• Work closely with the authentication stack to deliver a seamless, delightful authentication experience.
• Improve quality by implementing testing methodologies and strong debugging practices.
• Support team growth through pair programming, feedback on technical designs/merge requests, and mentoring.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years in software development with a full-stack profile, including:
  • TypeScript/React (required)
  • Some exposure to Rust and/or Go
• 2+ years experience in authentication and identity.
• Hands-on experience with authentication/identity standards and protocols:
  • OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML
  • WebAuthn, passkeys, MFA
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: best practices, coding standards, and design patterns.
• Experience solving complex problems and proposing effective, innovative solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional, non-technical partners.

Bonus

• Experience with Kotlin, Swift, Rust, Go or related languages, or strong ability to learn new languages quickly.
