Role Overview

Join Thumbtack as a Senior Data Scientist (Lifecycle) on the Lifecycle team. You’ll shape Thumbtack’s full lifecycle strategy for homeowners and professionals, partnering with cross-functional teams and leading long-term, high-ambiguity initiatives.

Key Missions

• Build the data infrastructure that enables faster iteration for the Lifecycle team.
• Develop a lifecycle measurement framework and define lifecycle health metrics for both owners and professionals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand strategic challenges and contextualize insights.

Responsibilities

• Lead long-term analytical initiatives end-to-end: scope, shape, and deliver measurable business impact.
• Create scalable data products such as dashboards, self-service tools, or reusable analytical frameworks.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership; influence strategy across product, marketing, and engineering.

Requirements

• 5+ years in a highly analytical role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python working with large, complex datasets.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Math, Economics, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
• Deep expertise in experimental design, causal inference, and statistical methods.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity in measurement and communicate uncertainty clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience leading ambiguous initiatives with measurable business impact.
• Proven record building data products that scale beyond a single team.

Nice to Have

• Track record of managing non-technical stakeholders and building consensus without direct authority.
