Senior Data Scientist

Role Overview

Join Descript as a Senior Data Scientist to partner with the Performance Marketing team. You’ll architect measurement, optimize full-funnel marketing, and enable smarter business decisions through data.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and own the marketing measurement framework in collaboration with Performance Marketing.
• Optimize performance across the full funnel and improve attribution/measurement.
• Develop channel-specific CAC targets and iterate on attribution models.
• Drive incrementality measurement, including experimentation and causal approaches.
• Build models to:
  • score leads by conversion likelihood,
  • forecast campaign performance,
  • power recommendation systems using user behavior data.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure data quality, usability, and operational improvements.
• Proactively identify trends/opportunities to improve user acquisition, activation, and retention.

Requirements

• 5+ years as a data scientist (or related role).
• Deep understanding of ads platforms, including Meta, Google, and Microsoft.
• Experience with data enrichment and reverse ETL via a CDP such as Segment or Census.
• Experience building in-house attribution models.
• Strong grounding in incrementality testing using randomized controlled experiments and quasi-experiments.
• Familiarity with LLMs for enhancing marketing insights.
• SQL proficiency and Python or R.
• Experience deploying AI-powered prediction models for user behavior and conversion.
• Proven success across product-led growth and/or sales-led GTM motions.
• Degree in a relevant field (CS, math, stats, etc.).

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI tools/frameworks specifically for marketing analytics and optimization.
