Senior Data Scientist (Computer Vision)

Role Overview

Senior Data Scientist specializing in Computer Vision at Zesty.ai. You will develop and optimize deep learning models for risk modeling and complex image-based challenges, working with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior members.

Key Missions

• Train, deploy, and optimize state-of-the-art deep learning models for challenging computer vision problems.
• Explore data sources and develop new PropertyTech/InsurTech models using machine learning and deep learning.
• Lead creation of high-quality datasets for robust training and evaluation.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams throughout model development and productionization.

Requirements

• BigQuery and SQL experience.
• 5+ years applying machine learning to computer vision.
• Strong problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and in dynamic team settings.
• Degree in a related field (Math, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, etc.); MS/PhD a plus.
• Proven ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
• Python proficiency and extensive hands-on deep learning experience.
• Experience deploying deep learning models in production.
• Strong understanding of image processing, ML/deep learning, and AI principles.
• Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and collaborative workflows.
• Understanding of data preprocessing and augmentation for large-scale image datasets.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with aerial or satellite imagery.
• Experience using generative AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
• Deep learning frameworks and libraries: PyTorch/TensorFlow, OpenCV, Pillow, Matplotlib, Plotly.
• Cloud and infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS, plus Docker/Kubernetes.
