Senior Data Platform Engineer (Full Remote)

Join Wrapbook to design, build, and operate a unified, green-field data platform. This role is 80% data platform engineering and 20% data engineering, partnering closely with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design & build an integrated data platform that unifies existing tools and pipelines into a cohesive, scalable architecture.
• Own data pipelines and SLAs end-to-end, ensuring data moves reliably between systems with clear expectations, metrics, and observability.
• Shape data strategy & platform roadmap by researching new technologies, evaluating trade-offs, and introducing tools/frameworks as the platform evolves.
• Manage data contracts and ensure strong governance across systems.
• Ensure observability across the platform.

Requirements

• 5+ years building and operating data platforms in fast-growing or early-stage environments.
• Strong collaboration across analytics, product engineering, compliance, and security.
• Self-directed, solution-oriented approach with comfort in ambiguity; can propose trade-offs and drive execution.
• Strong coding fluency in Python (preferred) and at least one of Java or Scala.
• Deep experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Dagster, Airbyte, Airflow, and dbt.
• Ability to design scalable data models and system architectures balancing performance, cost, and governance.
• Infrastructure automation experience and comfort working with AWS or other major cloud platforms.

Nice-to-haves

• AI-centric workflow and use of AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code) for orchestrating and streamlining work.
• Terraform/Ansible (or similar) for infrastructure automation.
