Senior Data Platform Engineer

Role overview

Join Smallpdf as a Senior Data Platform Engineer to build and run the core components of the data stack. You will own ingestion pipelines, help ensure consistent warehouse performance, and deliver high-quality datasets into the dbt transformation layer.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ingestion pipelines for near-real-time events from products, backend, and third-party systems.
• Ensure reliable performance at scale for the Redshift warehouse.
• Deliver high-quality data into the dbt transformation layer.
• Oversee ingestion and data infrastructure across the ingestion/storage/transformation/orchestration/delivery lifecycle.
• Shape the next generation of the data platform by identifying gaps, evaluating new technologies, and building capabilities that support data science, ML, and experimentation.
• Collaborate with data professionals and data-driven stakeholders to convert complex data into usable insights.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Amazon Redshift, Kubernetes, Python, and SQL.
• Confidence owning critical data applications and infrastructure end-to-end.
• Systematic problem-solving approach with a quality-first mindset (clean, reliable, maintainable solutions).
• Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with analysts, product managers, and engineers.
• Comfortable operating across the full data platform lifecycle (ingestion, storage, transformation, orchestration, delivery).

Nice to have

• Experience with systems at similar scale and complexity.
• Curiosity and pragmatism with interest in current trends, especially in the open-source ecosystem.
