Senior Data Integration Engineer (100% Remote)

Role overview

Senior Data Integration Engineer (100% Remote) at Vori Health. You will design, build, and operate API-driven data services that reliably connect operational systems, sync data across boundaries, and land curated datasets in Snowflake, working closely with Hasura as the operational database/API layer.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure, automation, and pipelines

• Own the design and continuous improvement of data delivery pipelines on AWS (e.g., S3, Lambda, EventBridge, CloudWatch).
• Build and maintain integration platforms/services that expose and consume REST/GraphQL/event-driven APIs with strong contracts, versioning, and observability.
• Automate ingestion, monitoring, and recovery processes to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
• Create reusable infrastructure-as-code patterns using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Build shared ingestion/pre-processing frameworks and scripts in Python and Bash for third-party data files.

APIs and data workflows

• Design and implement secure, scalable APIs in Node.js and TypeScript to support virtual care workflows.
• Partner with Data Engineers to align ingestion mechanisms with warehouse needs and dbt transformations.

Observability and reliability

• Define and maintain alerting/observability frameworks for all data workflows.
• Implement monitoring for latency, data freshness, file arrivals, and pipeline health.
• Perform root-cause analysis on failures and drive permanent improvements.
• Establish standards for logging, error handling, and notifications (e.g., Slack, Datadog).
• Define and enforce SLAs for ingestion timeliness and system uptime.

Security and compliance

• Oversee secure data exchange protocols including SFTP, HTTPS, and AWS Transfer Family.
• Manage and rotate public/private keys for SFTP authentication.
• Partner with Security/IT to enforce least-privilege IAM roles, key policies, and encryption-at-rest/in-transit.
• Maintain audit trails and integration compliance documentation.

Third-party and cross-team coordination

• Act as the primary technical contact for external IT teams involved in data transfers.
• Coordinate with Implementation to onboard partners, manage credentials, and troubleshoot issues.
• Track and document third-party data transfer mechanisms (SFTP, portals, secure email, APIs) and whether they push or pull data.
• Manage external communication/escalations to minimize integration downtime.
• Communicate technical details clearly with internal and external stakeholders.

Continuous improvement and leadership

• Identify opportunities to streamline the ingestion lifecycle via automation, tooling, or process improvements.
• Lead technical reviews, mentor DataOps Engineers, and drive adoption of best practices.
• Contribute to the roadmap focused on observability, security, and automation maturity.
