Senior Data Integration Engineer (100% Remote)

Role Overview

Senior Data Integration Engineer (100% Remote) at Vori Health. You will design, build, and operate API-driven data services and pipelines that reliably move data from operational systems into curated datasets in Snowflake, working closely with Hasura as the API layer and operational database.

Responsibilities

Data Integration & Pipelines

• Own the design and continuous improvement of data delivery pipelines on AWS (e.g., S3, Lambda, EventBridge, CloudWatch).
• Build and maintain integration platforms/services (REST/GraphQL/event-driven) with safe API contracts, versioning, and observability.
• Develop automation for ingestion, monitoring, and recovery to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
• Create reusable infrastructure-as-code patterns for environment provisioning (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Build shared ingestion/pre-processing frameworks and scripts in Python and Bash for third-party data files.

APIs & Data Platform Collaboration

• Design and implement secure, scalable APIs in Node.js and TypeScript to support virtual care workflows.
• Partner with Data Engineers to align ingestion mechanisms with warehouse needs and dbt transformations.
• Work with implementation teams to ensure seamless end-to-end data flow.

Observability & Reliability

• Implement alerting and observability frameworks for data workflows.
• Track and visualize metrics such as latency, data freshness, file arrivals, and pipeline health.
• Perform root-cause analysis and drive permanent fixes to prevent recurrence.
• Establish standards for logging, error handling, and notifications (e.g., Slack, Datadog).
• Define and enforce SLAs for ingestion timeliness and system uptime.

Security & Compliance

• Oversee secure data exchange protocols (SFTP, HTTPS, AWS Transfer Family).
• Manage and rotate SFTP public/private keys for third-party authentication.
• Enforce least-privilege IAM roles, key policies, and encryption at rest/in transit with Security/IT.
• Maintain audit trails and compliance documentation for data integrations.

Third-Party & Cross-Team Coordination

• Serve as the primary technical contact for external IT teams on data transfers.
• Coordinate onboarding of new partners, manage credentials, and troubleshoot integration issues.
• Document third-party mechanisms (SFTP, portals, secure email, APIs) and whether partners push vs. pull data.
• Manage external communication/escalation to minimize integration downtime.
• Communicate clearly and diplomatically with internal and external stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement & Leadership

• Identify opportunities to streamline ingestion via automation and tooling.
• Lead technical reviews, mentor DataOps Engineers, and drive adoption of best practices.
• Contribute to the long-term roadmap with focus on observability, security, and automation maturity.
• Stay current on AWS and Snowflake capabilities and advocate for practical adoption.
