Senior Data Engineer / Power BI Developer

Role Overview

Senior Data Engineer / Power BI Developer supporting weekly data processing workflows and building Power BI dashboards for internal teams and clients.

The role is split between:

• Python-based data engineering (data processing, routing, and AWS-backed workflows)
• Power BI dashboard development (report maintenance, modeling, DAX, and governance)

Responsibilities

Data Processing with Python

• Develop, maintain, and scale Python scripts that process and route data to destinations such as:
  • PostgreSQL tables
  • Multi-tab Excel outputs
  • Power BI
  • Other tools/services
• Work with proprietary and third-party services to support the weekly business cycle.

Power BI Dashboarding

• Maintain and extend an existing library of Power BI reports.
• Build new reports with a focus on:
  • Clean visual design
  • Strong data modeling
  • Dashboards that perform under real analytical use
• Work with DAX, large semantic models, Power BI Embedded, and multi-page report architecture.
• Support Power BI administration/governance.

AWS Infrastructure Management

• Own configuration and maintenance of AWS services used for data processing/storage/output, including:
  • EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch

Requirements

• 5+ years professional experience in a full-time data processing role using Python with large datasets.
• Strong experience with:
  • Jupyter notebooks
  • Pandas
  • SQL
  • PostgreSQL (schema design, advanced querying, migrations)
  • Routing outputs to Excel, DB tables, and visualization tools
• 4+ years professional experience building Power BI dashboards using:
  • Power BI Desktop and Power BI Cloud Service
  • Advanced DAX
  • Semantic model design
  • Multi-page report architecture
• Comfortable working with Power BI Embedded (plus).
• Experience with AWS infrastructure configuration/management for data processing/storage (including IAM roles/policies) is ideal.
• Fluency with GitHub and collaborative codebases.
• Ability to learn new tools quickly and solve new data engineering problems with Python.
• Comfortable with Google Workspace (Slides, Docs, Sheets).
• College degree preferred (Computer Science, Data Science, or related).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with visualization tools beyond Power BI (e.g., Tableau or Python visualization libraries).
• Bonus points for leveraging AI to accelerate report development.
