Senior Data Engineer

Role overview

As a Senior Data Engineer at Lyra Health, you will shape the data infrastructure that powers analytics and product capabilities in mental health care. You’ll design and scale a robust data warehouse, build reliable data pipelines, and deliver production-ready code.

Key missions

• Design and implement a robust data warehouse for analytics and operational use cases.
• Develop and maintain efficient data pipelines and curated datasets by partnering with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Build and scale core data infrastructure, pipelines, and services with high engineering quality.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain production-grade Python for data engineering needs.
• Perform SQL-based modeling and transformations with governance and performance in mind.
• Ensure data quality end-to-end with QA-first practices, validation, regression testing, and troubleshooting.
• Build fault-tolerant orchestration workflows and operational monitoring.
• Support regulated-data handling (e.g., PII/PHI) with masking/redaction processes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally and provide guidance/mentorship to team members.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Strong Snowflake administration, including security compliance, RBAC, external authentication, and downstream data consumption.
• Experience with modern ingestion tools:
  • Airbyte (data integration platform deployment/configuration)
  • Fivetran (commercial ELT pipelines)
  • CDC (database replication methods)
• Proven ability to write high-quality, production-ready Python.
• Expertise in SQL data modeling and transformation frameworks such as dbt (schema management, performance, data governance).
• Strong knowledge of Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse architecture, including Snowpipe and Apache Iceberg open table formats.
• QA-first engineering mindset: end-to-end data quality assurance, regression testing, validation, discrepancy troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Orchestration experience building robust pipelines with Apache Airflow (logging, alerting, retry mechanisms).
• Experience with analytics/visualization tools such as Sigma or Tableau.
• Strong relational database and warehousing fundamentals, including dimensional modeling.
• Experience working with sensitive data (PII/PHI) in healthcare or similarly regulated environments.
• Familiarity with DevOps and infrastructure automation using Terraform.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build consensus and clarify complex technical problems.
