Senior Data Engineer

Role overview

Join Grailed (GOAT) as a Senior Data Engineer. You’ll be responsible for building and scaling the data infrastructure that powers the business, working closely with data partners, engineers, product managers, marketers, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability, availability, and accuracy of the data infrastructure.
• Build, maintain, and improve the data pipeline end-to-end.
• Champion data governance and help ensure compliance with data privacy standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into usable data solutions.
• Treat data quality and observability as first-class concerns (monitoring/alerting to catch issues early).
• Build systems that are easy to understand, extend, and maintain; raise overall data literacy across the org.

Key missions

• Assure the reliability, availability, and accuracy of the data infrastructure with privacy compliance.
• Construct and improve data pipelines using the modern data stack.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering experience, with strong foundations in software and data engineering.
• Strong SQL skills and Python proficiency.
• Deep experience building and architecting end-to-end data pipelines (ingestion through consumption).
• Familiarity with analytics engineering practices.
• Experience building and consuming APIs.
• Ability to drive projects from scoping through delivery; comfortable with ambiguity and owning outcomes.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with the stack: Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Segment, Looker, Amplitude.
• Experience with search/discovery platforms (e.g., Algolia) and AWS/Lambda.
• Git experience.
• Familiarity with ML/data science workflows and how data engineering supports them.
• Prior experience in retail/resale/marketplace commerce.
• Exposure to data ingestion orchestration and tooling choices; pragmatic technology decision-making.
