Senior Data Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Data Engineer at Forbright Bank. You will work across the full data engineering stack (ingestion to reporting), with a primary focus on data modeling using the Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold), specifically the Silver and Gold layers.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy abstracted data models using SQL and transformation tools such as dbt and Coalesce under the Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) approach.
• Use Snowflake capabilities (e.g., data sharing, dynamic tables, RBAC, Notebooks, Streamlit apps, Workspaces, Cortex) to provide reliable and efficient access to models.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, business analysts, and end-users to define requirements and design effective data models.
• Clean up and translate legacy SQL logic and models into a new unified representation system.
• Create data pipelines/DAGs in Apache Airflow to deliver data products to internal and external partners.
• Manage Snowflake and Airflow infrastructure using Terraform.

Requirements

• 6+ years experience in data engineering or software development.
• Strong SQL skills for extraction and transformation.
• Experience in data modeling and familiarity with Medallion concepts.
• Familiarity with data transformation tools (Coalesce, dbt, etc.).
• Familiarity with data governance and metadata management.
• Cloud data environment familiarity (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with banking/financial data.
• Familiarity with Data Vault architecture concepts.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Development, Computer Engineering, or equivalent (required).
• Master’s degree (preferred).
