Senior Data Engineer (Databricks) (m/w/d)

Role Overview

Senior Data Engineer focused on Databricks and modern data platforms, working on end-to-end data engineering, governance, and pipeline automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement modern data architectures, e.g. Medallion Architecture and Data Lakehouse
• Build and optimize data pipelines for batch and streaming using Kafka, Spark/Databricks, and cloud services such as Azure Data Factory
• Use and integrate key Databricks components, including Unity Catalog and AI/BI Genie
• Ensure Data & AI governance, security, and compliance in cloud architectures
• Support customer demos and contribute to presales activities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban)
• Own DevOps processes, including CI/CD pipelines and automation with Terraform and related infrastructure tools
• Translate technical solutions into business context with customers and internal stakeholders

Requirements

• Degree in (business) informatics, math, physics, statistics, or a comparable field
• Multi-year experience building data engineering solutions with Databricks, Apache Spark, SQL, and cloud platforms
• Strong knowledge of Big Data architectures (Data Lakes, Delta Lakes, DWH, ETL/ELT, streaming)
• Experience with programming and automation: Python, Scala, SQL, Terraform, CI/CD
• Fluent German and English (C1), written and spoken
• Readiness to travel within the DACH region

• MLOps experience
• dbt
• Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) experience
