Senior Data Engineer

Role Overview

CRB is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support internal data, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives. You will plan and execute multiple concurrent projects while helping define strategic infrastructure and analytical capabilities that deliver actionable business insights.

Responsibilities

• Elicit business requirements from stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications.
• Design, implement, and maintain ETL processes for warehousing and systems integration.
• Develop and enhance data models to deliver value to the organization.
• Maintain, monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot/reresolve issues in existing data processes.
• Contribute to standard methods and best practices for data transformation and preparation for reporting, analytics, and self-service.
• Support reporting and visualization efforts as needed.
• Apply data team best practices for documentation, access, and security.
• Implement data quality checks and validation processes.
• Incorporate data classification, data masking, and related security measures into ETL and models.
• Participate in code reviews and internal/external project communications and coordination.
• Build robust, scalable data architectures for maintainable pipelines.
• Research and adopt new technologies to keep the platform modern and efficient.
• Develop strategies to integrate data from disparate sources into a cohesive data ecosystem.
• Automate data processes to reduce manual work.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and protect sensitive information.
• Mentor junior data engineers.
• Travel as required for project development and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years working with Microsoft SQL databases and warehousing tools, including SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Synapse SQL.
• 2+ years recent experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• 7+ years developing ETL using Microsoft technologies: SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Microsoft Fabric.
• 7+ years developing Microsoft Analysis Services Tabular / Power BI / Fabric semantic data models.
• Experience applying medallion architecture design patterns.

Nice-to-Haves (from posting)

• Proficiency with Azure Gen2 Storage, Synapse/Fabric, Spark notebooks, REST APIs, Databricks, and related technologies.
