Senior Data Engineer

Role Overview

CRB is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to support internal data, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives. The role involves planning and executing multiple large or long-duration projects, building strategic infrastructure and analytical capabilities, and ensuring data quality, security, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Elicit business requirements from stakeholders and develop/approve technical specifications.
• Design, implement, and maintain ETL processes for warehousing and systems integration.
• Develop and enhance data models to deliver organizational value.
• Maintain, monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot existing data processes.
• Contribute to standard methods and best practices for data transformation and preparation (reporting, analytics, and self-service).
• Support reporting and visualization projects as needed.
• Apply best practices for documentation, access, and security.
• Implement data quality checks and validation processes.
• Incorporate data classification, data masking, and security into ETL and models.
• Participate in code reviews and team collaboration.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data used for analysis.
• Design robust, scalable, and maintainable data architectures and data pipelines.
• Research and adopt new technologies and methodologies to modernize the data infrastructure.
• Develop strategies to integrate data from disparate sources into a cohesive data ecosystem.
• Automate data processes to reduce manual effort.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Mentor junior data engineers.
• Travel as required for project development and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years with Microsoft SQL databases and warehousing tools (including SQL Server, Azure SQL, Synapse SQL).
• 7+ years developing ETL using Microsoft technologies (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric).
• 7+ years building Analysis Services Tabular models and/or Power BI / Fabric semantic data models.
• Experience with medallion architecture design patterns.
• Proficiency with Azure Gen2 Storage, Synapse, Fabric, Spark Notebooks, REST APIs, Databricks.
• Expert proficiency in data warehousing methodologies (text truncated).
