Senior Data Engineer

Role: Senior Data Engineer

You will help deliver CRB’s internal data, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives by designing and operating scalable data architectures and ETL pipelines. This role involves executing multiple projects in parallel, partnering with stakeholders to gather requirements, and contributing to best practices for security, documentation, and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Elicit data-related business requirements from stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications.
• Design, implement, and maintain ETL processes for warehousing and systems integration.
• Develop and enhance data models to deliver organizational value.
• Maintain, monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot/resolve issues in existing data processes.
• Contribute to standard methods and best practices for transforming and preparing data for reporting, analytics, and self-service.
• Support reporting and visualization initiatives as needed.
• Apply data team best practices for documentation, access control, and security.
• Implement data quality checks, validation processes, and data classification.
• Incorporate data masking techniques to protect sensitive information.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate on project communication and coordination.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability for analysis.
• Design robust, scalable, maintainable data pipelines and a cohesive data ecosystem integrating disparate sources.
• Automate data processes to reduce manual intervention.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and confidentiality requirements.
• Mentor junior data engineers.
• Travel as required for project development and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years with Microsoft SQL databases and warehousing tools, including SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Synapse SQL.
• 7+ years developing ETL using Microsoft technologies such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Microsoft Fabric.
• 7+ years developing Microsoft Analysis Services Tabular models and/or Power BI/Fabric semantic data models.
• Experience leveraging medallion architecture patterns.

Nice-to-haves / Additional proficiencies

• Proficiency with Azure Gen2 Storage, Synapse, Fabric, Spark Notebooks, REST APIs.
• Experience with Databricks and related technologies.
• Strong expertise in data warehousing methodologies.
