Senior Data Engineer

Role Overview

The Senior Data Engineer designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines and data infrastructure for an enterprise analytics and reporting platform. The role transforms raw data into trusted, high-quality datasets used for business intelligence, data science, and operational systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across SQL Server environments and cloud platforms.
• Partner with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into technical solutions.
• Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security using validation, monitoring, and governance.
• Maintain and evolve data models, schemas, and metadata for analytics and reporting.
• Automate data ingestion, transformation, and deployment with CI/CD and orchestration tools such as Airflow and Azure Data Factory.
• Troubleshoot data issues to ensure high availability and performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering (or related roles).
• Strong SQL skills, including data warehousing and performance tuning.
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools/frameworks such as SSIS, dbt, Apache Spark, and Azure Data Factory.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms: Azure, AWS, GCP.
• Knowledge of data modeling (e.g., star/snowflake schemas), data lakes, and data governance.
• Proficiency in Python or Scala (or similar) for data processing.
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all technical levels.

Nice to Have

• Technical certifications (preferred).
• Experience with modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric.
