About the role
Role overview
Join ClickUp as a Senior Data Engineer to help shape and scale the company’s modern data platform. This role blends hands-on technical ownership with strategic influence across the data ecosystem, enabling analytics and AI-powered products.
Key missions
- Design, build, and maintain cloud-native data infrastructure using Terraform (IaC)
- Develop and optimize data pipelines using AWS services and Snowflake
- Implement ELT workflows with dbt
- Mentor teammates and help define engineering standards to raise the technical bar
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in data engineering or software engineering with emphasis on scalable data systems
- Experience building pipelines supporting AI/ML workflows (e.g., feature engineering, training data pipelines, model monitoring)
- Strong coding skills in Python (or another general-purpose language)
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Snowflake (or another cloud data warehouse)
- Hands-on expertise with Terraform and/or AWS CDK for Infrastructure as Code
- Deep knowledge of AWS services, especially: Lambda, Fargate, Step Functions, S3, DynamoDB, Aurora
- Knowledge of data quality, governance, and observability best practices
- Proficiency with dbt and modern ELT patterns
- Understanding of CI/CD with Git-based development and containerization (Docker)
- Prior experience mentoring or leading engineers
- Ability to operate in both startup and enterprise environments
Nice to have
- Experience with streaming/event-driven architectures (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka)
- Familiarity with orchestration frameworks (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Prefect)
