Senior Data Engineer

Role Overview

Blockworks is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to lead the creation and execution of data models and strategies that power the product. You will design, develop, implement, and evolve scalable data pipelines and ETL processes, including ingestion from blockchain nodes (with a strong emphasis on Solana).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead data modeling & strategy: create and execute data models/strategies that feed the product.
• Architect the data stack: design data warehousing, ingestion, and sourcing strategy.
• Build ETL pipelines: implement end-to-end ETL approaches for data sourcing and transformation.
• Blockchain ingestion: access and ingest from blockchain nodes, with particular responsibility for Solana data pipelines.
• Operational efficiency: drive efficiency through robust pipeline operations and scalable architecture.
• Technical leadership (player-coach): guide the team in implementing architectures and designs.

Requirements

• Crypto/web3 native mindset with significant crypto industry knowledge (interest is not enough).
• 4+ years hands-on experience with data modeling, schema design, data operations, and data warehousing.
• Strong hands-on expertise in TypeScript, Go, and/or Python.
• Excellent SQL skills (ideally Postgres, plus dbt and Hypertables).
• Results-oriented approach with focus on high-quality, reliable data pipeline delivery.
• Track record improving engineering productivity and quality.

Nice-to-Haves / Strongly Preferred

• Hands-on experience with Solana projects, including ingestion pipelines using RPC, WebSocket, or Geyser, with resilience to forks and automated backfills.
• Experience building data warehouses with Timescale, Snowflake, and/or BigQuery.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools: Docker, CI/CD, and AWS.
• Built backend systems at scale with emphasis on data processing and ingestion.
• Experience with microservices, plus knowledge of security, privacy, and scalability.
• Ability to decode Solana data: transactions/instructions/events and ship modeled data into systems like Postgres, ClickHouse, or Parquet.
• Solana native program fluency (e.g., System, Stake, SPL Token, Token2022, Memo) and work with Anchor programs, IDLs, Borsh layouts, and decoder registry management.
