Role overview

Join Bankrate as a Senior Data Engineer to build and improve the data platform powering analytics and insights for millions of users. You’ll own critical data pipelines, enhance platform reliability and performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable data solutions.

Key missions

Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure in Databricks and AWS.
Audit and document existing pipelines to identify gaps, improve data reliability, and strengthen data quality.
Partner with BI and analytics teams to translate business needs into data models and scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

Deliver reliable, high-performing data pipelines.
Integrate third-party data sources and external APIs into the data platform.
Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

5+ years of data engineering experience designing and deploying large-scale data solutions.
Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, and AWS.
Strong proficiency in SQL.
Solid skills in a modern language such as Python or Scala.
Strong understanding of data modeling, ELT/ETL design, and distributed data systems.
Experience supporting BI/analytics platforms (e.g., Looker or similar).
Familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Terraform, Airflow).
Collaborative, cross-team mindset.

Nice to have

Experience with Databricks and AWS (explicitly called out as a major plus).
