Role overview
The University of Arizona (UAIR) is seeking a Senior Institutional Analyst to support enterprise-level analysis, interpretation, and reporting. You will translate complex institutional data into accurate, context-aware insights that inform leadership decision-making, planning, and external reporting.
Responsibilities
- Own analytical interpretation and insight storytelling across student, administrative, and operational domains
- Explain trends, drivers, assumptions, caveats, and implications
- Frame findings into clear narratives for leadership
- Support executive-level internal and external reporting
- Contribute to leadership briefings, accountability metrics, and mandated reporting
- Ensure analytical accuracy and consistent, appropriate contextual framing
- Develop and refine high-quality analytical products
- Partner with analysts, BI developers, and data engineers to design/validate dashboards, reports, and visualizations
- Focus on insight quality, interpretability, and institutional usefulness
- Apply professional judgment in complex/ambiguous scenarios
- Handle incomplete, conflicting, or evolving data
- Surface risks, sensitivities, limitations, and uncertainties
- Collaborate and mentor
- Act as a thought partner to junior analysts (standards, documentation, and data literacy)
Requirements
- Ability to interpret complex analytical results and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences (including senior leaders)
- Strong understanding of institutional context, definitions, and data limitations
- Proficiency with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Oracle Analytics)
- Solid SQL skills with large, multi-source relational datasets
- Demonstrated judgment and discretion when working with sensitive, high-impact institutional data
- Strong collaboration skills with technical teams and institutional stakeholders
