Role Overview

Senior Data Analyst (Direct Hire)

Remote position (Eastern or Central time zone) working with subject matter experts to improve how reliability data is collected, validated, analyzed, and reported for the electric power industry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide industry expertise and critical thinking to identify needs for developing and analyzing industry databases and reliability performance metrics.
  • Design and implement centralized data collection processes and tools for reliability metrics.
  • Strengthen data collection and validation processes.
  • Review and analyze nuanced data to identify trends and patterns and recommend improvements, optimization, and value opportunities.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources using statistical methods and tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, SAS, Excel).
  • Combine datasets and document data relationships (data modeling).
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to support business decisions and strategic planning.
  • Communicate insights to leadership and stakeholders via presentations, and by maintaining reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Develop and follow policies, procedures, and processes for collection and analysis of data.
  • Identify and define process improvement opportunities.
  • Support and help lead in pursuit of department and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • BS or AA in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Business Intelligence, or equivalent education/training.
  • 7–10 years of analyst experience in a data-intensive environment.
  • Prior experience in the electric industry (generation, transmission, power system reliability), including familiarity with utility business/operational functions, risks, and controls.
  • Strong mathematical/statistics skills.
  • Intermediate programming/computer skills using Python, Microsoft SQL Server, and Excel (Macro/VBA/PowerPivot).
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and/or SAS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Practical experience applying machine learning / data science, including AI.
  • Strong organizational/time management, analytical and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication (present orally and in writing) to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively (including leading teams) and support multiple tasks.

Preferred Experience

  • Understanding of bulk power system operations.
  • Experience across all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience writing for both technical and general audiences.
  • Project management and training experience.
  • Customer service/support background helpful.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $105,000–$115,000 (depending on client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
