Senior Data Analyst

Role Overview

Range is hiring a Senior Data Analyst to serve as an embedded analytical partner for multiple business teams (member experience, planners, investments, finance, and more). The role turns complex business questions into analyses, dashboards, and decision-support insights.

What You’ll Do

• Embed with business teams to deeply understand their work and become the go-to person for analytical answers.
• Investigate decision-driving questions (e.g., why churn is rising in a cohort, next-best action for members).
• Frame ambiguous questions, decide what data to use, run the analysis, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Own and maintain dashboards used for day-to-day business decisions.
• Define what data is authoritative vs. exploratory within teams, aligned to company-wide standards.
• Provide ad hoc analytical support and quick number checks, with strong judgment on what needs quick answers vs. deeper investigation.

Requirements

• 5+ years in a data-focused role (Data Analyst, Analytics, Data Science, or similar), including experience embedded with business teams.
• Advanced SQL; ability to write complex queries to answer the real question.
• Comfort working in a modern data stack, including:
  • dbt
  • a cloud data warehouse
  • a BI tool such as Sigma, Looker, or Tableau
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to turn ambiguity into recommendations.
• Proven ability to communicate insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

What Will Set You Apart

• Comfort using Python for analyses beyond SQL (e.g., statistical work, hypothesis testing).
• Ability to use AI effectively as a force multiplier while knowing when to verify and where it improves analysis and communication.

Location / Work Style

• Based at Range Headquarters in McLean, VA.
• In-office schedule Monday–Friday.
• Relocation may be discussed if not already local.
