About the role

Role Overview

Join Affirm as Senior Counsel (Vendor) in the Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs team. You will lead and grow the Vendor Legal team, manage a high volume of vendor agreements, and partner with senior stakeholders across the organization.

Key Missions

  • Lead and grow the Vendor Legal team: manage priorities, drive operational execution, and serve as a core stakeholder partner.
  • Negotiate, draft, and execute a wide range of vendor agreements, including:
    • Technology services
    • Cloud services
    • SaaS
    • Data platform
    • Contractor agreements
    • Marketing/creative
    • Leases
    • Payment processing
  • Build and improve legal operations assets:
    • Playbooks, contract templates, negotiation guides, and related tools to scale team efficiency.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant transactional experience in-house (tech company) or in a technology practice at a top law firm.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services.
  • Proven ability to build/improve legal processes and operational tools (playbooks, templates, etc.) in a high-growth environment.
  • Collaborative, cross-functional approach focused on practical, win-win outcomes.
  • Strong judgment and ability to make timely, business-focused decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Proactive, self-starting mindset.
  • Experience supporting global/multi-jurisdictional transactions (e.g., US, Canada, UK/EU, Australia).
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to translate complex legal/commercial issues into plain language.
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience (hiring, developing, performance management).
  • Exceptional drafting skills and ability to manage high deal volume with consistent quality.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection/privacy regimes including CCPA, GDPR, APPs, PIPEDA, and GLBA.
  • JD and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
