About the role

Role Overview

Join Slice as a Senior Counsel reporting to the Head of Legal. You’ll support multiple practice areas and take real ownership as the company scales, advising business and product teams across commercial, FinTech, AI, IP, employment, and litigation matters.

Key Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including:
- Vendor contracts
- SaaS agreements
- Partnership deals
- NDAs
- Data processing agreements
Advise business teams on contract risk, deal structure, and negotiation strategy, supporting Slice’s payments and FinTech initiatives.
Counsel on IP matters as the brand/product footprint expands, including:
- Trademarks
- Copyright
- Trade secrets

Requirements

5–10 years of legal experience, with significant time at a top-tier law firm (BigLaw) or a highly regarded boutique; litigators and corporate lawyers both welcome.
Strong interest in negotiating complex agreements without becoming a blocker.
JD from an accredited law school and active bar admission in New York or another US jurisdiction.
Self-starter mindset: identify issues early and bring solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain legal concepts to non-lawyers.
Comfortable operating independently and making judgment calls.

Nice-to-Haves

In-house experience at a technology company.
Exposure to IP prosecution, trademark portfolio management, or IP litigation.
Experience advising on employment law across multiple jurisdictions, including internationally.
Familiarity with privacy frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA.
Experience in food tech, marketplace, or platform businesses.
Familiarity with payments / money transmission / financial services regulation.
Experience counseling product and engineering teams directly.
