Senior Counsel (Cards Product)

Role Overview

Senior Counsel for the Cards Product at Motive. You will advise on the intersection of technology, law, and customer financial needs, partnering closely with Product, Sales, Finance, and Risk.

Responsibilities

• Counsel the Product team to launch new features for the Motive Card
• Negotiate contracts and support Sales, including training
• Collaborate with Finance and Risk to:
  • minimize loss
  • investigate fraud
  • create policies and processes
• Work cross-functionally with legal peers across:
  • Privacy
  • Regulatory affairs
  • IP
  • general product counseling on novel issues
• Review/advise on marketing content

Requirements

• US-licensed attorney based in the US
• 6+ years of experience as a US-licensed attorney
• Strong understanding of US financial regulations
• Experience with emerging fintech products, especially commercial payments (not crypto)
• Ability to explain compliance clearly to engineers and PMs
• Comfortable making independent decisions in regulatory/contractual ambiguity
• In-house experience and/or law firm training (significant time in-house is expected)
