About the role

Role Overview

Senior Cloud Solutions Engineer (Remote) providing “white glove” support to customers adopting cloud solutions under VA’s Data Modernization initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end white-glove support to help VA users overcome cloud adoption challenges and deliver required business outcomes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to workgroups through their cloud migration.
  • Build and maintain a best-practices knowledge base for workgroups.
  • Participate in weekly feedback and Center of Excellence calls; respond to workgroup questions.
  • Help workgroups set up resources and migrate workloads to the cloud.
  • Coordinate with on-prem teams to decommission resources after migrations complete.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects, engineers, and system owners to ensure technical deliverables meet program requirements and timelines.
  • Manage parallel projects, research and respond to product line data calls, and provide ongoing progress reports.
  • Report accomplishments to internal leadership to demonstrate outcomes and benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT/engineering/technical discipline plus 12 years of experience (or equivalent via experience substitution).
  • Experience managing projects in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
  • Healthcare IT experience.
  • Expertise with Azure or other major cloud platforms.
  • Databricks workspace administration: catalog creation, mount configurations, and cluster setup.
  • Strong data lake architecture experience, especially Delta Lake (or similar structured storage).
  • Experience automating cloud provisioning workflows (e.g., Terraform, ARM, Bicep, PowerShell, Python).
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering and business teams.
  • Excellent documentation and experience building standard operating procedures.
  • Experience creating and presenting executive summary presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Windows/macOS/Linux plus additional software/engineering skills (listed across Ruby, HTML/CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, C#, .NET, Node.js, Angular, jQuery).
  • Data/platform experience including Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, and additional cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), plus GitHub, Jira, Confluence.
  • Background spanning backend, frontend, fullstack sustainment; API/UX/UI support.
  • Conflict management and servant leadership; strong analytical problem-solving.
  • Ability to conduct independent root-cause research and resolve complex issues.

Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.

Location / Work Model

  • Fully remote within the United States.

Compensation

  • $175,000 – $200,000 USD per year.
