About the role

Role Overview

Join ClickHouse as a Senior Cloud Performance Engineer to help shape the ClickHouse Cloud Platform. You will drive performance benchmarking, diagnose bottlenecks, and collaborate across core, cloud, and security teams to improve reliability and scalability.

Key Missions

Benchmark system performance and conduct database performance analysis
Troubleshoot applications and recommend configuration tuning/optimizations to address performance bottlenecks
Collaborate with the core development, cloud, and security teams to improve ClickHouse Cloud performance
Plan, enable, and drive Chaos initiatives across engineering teams
- Develop, deploy, and manage tools to systematically run chaos experiments

Responsibilities

Build tooling and measurement approaches to understand the performance limits of distributed databases
Analyze performance of complex distributed systems and support capacity management decisions
Lead and deliver large-scope technical projects with cross-team collaboration
Use strong production debugging skills to resolve performance and stability issues

Requirements

6+ years of relevant software development experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems
Strong background in database benchmarking, test automation, system engineering, performance analysis, and capacity management
Experience with distributed systems concurrency/multithreading
Strong communication and ability to work across engineering teams
Strong problem-solving and production debugging experience
Experience developing and operating cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes
Software development experience in Go, C/C++, Java, or similar
Expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure services (e.g., EC2)

Nice-to-Haves

Experience leading and shipping large-scope technical projects in collaboration with multiple senior engineers
Strong passion for efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance
