About the role

Role overview

Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (UK) on the UK team at Applied Intuition Defence. You’ll be embedded with the engineers you support to design, build, and operate UK-hosted infrastructure—from greenfield design to solving hard deployment and distributed-systems issues.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and architecture of UK-hosted infrastructure used by internal engineering teams.
Build and deploy products into cloud, on-premise, and air-gapped environments using infrastructure as code, supporting them across their full operational lifecycle.
Host secure, UK-approved AI models for use in secure programmes.
Improve developer effectiveness by identifying friction and building internal tooling to remove it.
Own CI/CD systems and deployment strategies, including wiring up Hardware in the Loop (HiL) integration.
Debug and profile edge cases in distributed systems and lead incident response when systems break.
Work with product managers and customers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Feed improvements back into the wider organization.

Requirements

Strong experience delivering and operating cloud/infrastructure systems.
Ability to design infrastructure from scratch and choose appropriate tools/patterns.
Proven skills with infrastructure as code and secure deployment environments.
Experience debugging distributed systems and handling production issues.
Ability to work effectively in embedded, engineering-to-engineering collaboration.

Nice-to-haves (implied by context)

Experience with air-gapped environments and secure programme deployments.
Familiarity with secure AI model hosting.
Experience integrating and operating CI/CD with HiL workflows.
Experience supporting defence / national security or dual-use customers.
