Role Overview

Join Letmeship as a Senior Cloud Engineer (m/w/d) to help shape and evolve the company’s shipping platforms. In this central role, you will drive a future-proof, highly available cloud architecture, improve performance of core applications, and ensure stability through robust CI/CD and advanced observability.

Mission

• Build and evolve a highly available cloud architecture
• Optimize performance of core production applications
• Ensure system stability via CI/CD and state-of-the-art monitoring/observability
• Contribute to technology decisions, raise IT security, and scale infrastructure to support growth

Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & Networking

• Design, operate, and scale cloud infrastructure
• Own and manage cloud networking: VPCs, routing, DNS, load balancing
• Ensure secure and highly available connectivity for company locations

Operations for Core Applications

• Infrastructure responsibility for deployment, hosting optimization, and performance tuning
• Primarily supporting:
  • a complex Java application
  • an extensive PHP project

Monitoring & Observability

• Implement and extend system monitoring and observability
• Set up monitoring (e.g., Grafana) and establish precise alerting for proactive incident detection and resolution

Technology Evaluation & Scaling

• Focus on AWS while aiming for a cloud-agnostic architecture
• Improve high availability, e.g.:
  • integrate Redis for session caching
  • ensure stable WebSocket connections

Security & Best Practices

• Evaluate and implement modern cloud-native solutions for secret management modernization
• Establish industry-standard IT security practices in infrastructure processes

Process Stability & CI/CD

• Develop and maintain highly automated CI/CD pipelines for smooth deployments
• Ensure interrupted processes recover reliably via automated recovery mechanisms

Requirements

• Methodical, structured, and highly independent working style
• Several years of experience in an administrative cloud environment (e.g., Cloud Engineer / Platform Engineer / DevOps Engineer)
• Strong communication skills; act as an internal interface and advisor across infrastructure topics
• Holistic thinking with attention to compliance and data security standards

Technical Profile

• Linux administration: solid hands-on experience with administration and troubleshooting of Linux-based systems
• Networking: deep understanding of modern network architectures and protocols (e.g., routing, firewalls, VPNs, cloud networking)
• PHP & Java ecosystems: demonstrable experience (the posting cuts off mid-sentence here)

• Experience designing for cloud-agnostic architectures
• Experience integrating session caching and maintaining reliable WebSocket services
