Senior Cloud Engineer

Role overview

As a Senior Cloud Engineer at ClickHouse, you’ll join a small specialized team building secure and highly scalable ClickHouse Cloud database platforms. You’ll design, develop, deploy, and secure solutions across regulated and mission-critical environments, including hybrid and on-prem and potentially disconnected (airgapped) architectures.

Key missions

• Design, develop, deploy, and secure a ClickHouse Cloud database platform for regulated workloads.
• Architect secure, resilient, and scalable solutions aligned with relevant security/compliance frameworks.
• Build deployment automation across cloud, hybrid, on-prem, including disconnected environments.
• Operate and debug systems in production to resolve issues effectively.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant software development experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and cross-team partnership skills.
• Solid production debugging and problem-solving skills.
• High ownership and accountability.
• Programming/scripting proficiency for automation/integration: Go or Python.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes ecosystem tools: Helm, Kustomize, operators, Istio, and service mesh.
• Experience with secure/regulated/restricted network environments, including airgapped architectures.
• Experience with databases: ClickHouse and/or relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Experience with containerized deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) in enterprise/regulatory contexts.
• Passion for efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ClickHouse specifically.
• Cloud platform experience including AWS/Azure/GCP and government variants (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) or on-prem equivalents.
