About the role
Role Overview
The Senior Cloud Architect drives the cloud-centric architecture approach for Smile Digital Health’s managed services offering, while maintaining security best practices and improving operational efficiency. You will work cross-functionally with Solution/Software Architects, Security, Product Management, and Operations to design, implement, secure, deploy, and automate infrastructure services for SaaS solutions on Azure/AWS.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage a multi-tenant cloud strategy for managed services
- Create cloud reference architectures for multiple deployment topologies
- Define architectural guiding principles and standard specifications
- Assess, design, implement, automate, and document security solutions and processes to meet compliance requirements
- Partner with Security Operations to establish and implement Cloud security best practices
- Define and evolve baseline cloud, container, and application security standards
- Build cost/utilization tracking and attribution across cloud service providers
- Maintain documentation for cloud security systems and procedures
- Lead proof of concepts / proof of technology and evaluate best-of-breed technologies
- Produce detailed design and transition materials (conceptual/logical/physical design, BOM, as-built diagrams, KT materials, FAQs, and operational handover)
- Act as a subject matter expert from initiation through successful implementation
- Deliver C-level executive briefings on roadmap direction and technology fit
- Evangelize cloud strategy and best practices with senior management
- Provide multi-cloud thought leadership
- Collaborate with Operations to remove technical roadblocks and guide operational efficiency
Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a Solutions Architect, including securing cloud solutions (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, or related IT field
- 5+ years experience identifying cloud security issues/risks and developing risk mitigation plans for audit/compliance
- Strong experience with hyperscalers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Solid understanding of interconnect/colo environments
- Strong application architecture background and ability to move/refactor applications to the cloud
- Ability to communicate architectures to both C-suite and deep technical audiences
- Deep understanding of cloud best practices
