Senior Cloud Architect

Role overview

As Senior Cloud Architect at Origami Risk, you will shape the company’s cloud strategy and ensure SaaS platforms run on a robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure. You’ll lead the evolution of cloud architecture to support current and future growth while meeting performance and security expectations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and evolution of Origami’s cloud architecture (current and future)
• Create architectural frameworks and roadmaps aligned with business objectives
• Translate business requirements into scalable, cloud-based architectural solutions
• Design cloud systems to support growing user base and changing demands
• Ensure cloud system performance meets/exceeds customer expectations
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation (diagrams, design specs, best practices)
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior architects and engineering teams
• Implement and advocate for security practices and compliance in the cloud
• Safeguard sensitive data and support data privacy requirements
• Partner with Cloud Operations, SRE, Engineering, and business teams to advance SaaS platforms
• Evaluate and recommend cloud technologies, services, and tools to improve capabilities
• Stay current on cloud trends, best practices, and architecture patterns

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Cloud Solution Architecture or as a senior SRE
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional expected
• Proficiency in scripting/coding for automation (e.g., JavaScript, .NET, SQL)
• Deep familiarity with public cloud platforms and patterns (AWS, Azure)
• Knowledge of serverless technologies and use cases
• Strong problem-solving with a data-driven approach to incident analysis
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Solid knowledge of SaaS operations
• Prior experience in public cloud environments (AWS strongly preferred)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Advanced written and verbal communication
• Ability to succeed under ambiguity and varying levels of operational maturity

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of Kubernetes and container-based architectures
• Windows and SQL Server troubleshooting skills

Compensation & benefits

• Base pay range: $140,000–$175,000 (final base depends on factors including skills, experience, location, and market)
