About the role
Role overview
As a Senior CAD Backend Engineer (Mechanical CAD Automation), you will build backend integrations and automation for the company’s AI Engineering platform. You’ll connect mechanical CAD systems to cloud-native services and streamline mechanical design workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and automation scripts using Python
- Build integrations with 3rd-party CAD/design solutions (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA, PTC)
- Design and maintain data models using Protobuf
- Develop and integrate backend features for the AI Engineering platform
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and researchers across teams
- Write clean, well-documented, fast, and maintainable code
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years designing and implementing backend services
- 3+ years with Siemens NX, CATIA, or PTC APIs (CATIA experience is a must)
- 3+ years writing Python
- Deep understanding of cloud-native applications and infrastructure
- Experience with Protobuf
- Experience working with 3D data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bonus points / Nice to have
- Experience writing C++
- Experience implementing gRPC-based APIs
- Experience with Docker
- Experience with Google Cloud
- Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions
- Experience with logging and monitoring
