Senior Business Intelligence Engineer- Commission and Heap analytics

Role Overview

Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to lead analytics initiatives for:

• Sales commission analytics (incentive plans, payouts, and performance tracking)
• Digital product analytics using Heap within a healthcare environment

You will partner with Sales Operations, Finance, Product, and Engineering to deliver accurate reporting, actionable insights, and scalable analytics solutions.

Responsibilities

Commission Analytics & Reporting

• Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end commission analytics for sales incentive plans, payouts, and performance tracking
• Build and validate complex commission logic with accuracy, transparency, and audit readiness
• Partner with Sales Operations and Finance on compensation plan design, forecasting, and trend analysis
• Create scalable dashboards and self-service reporting for quota attainment, earnings, and sales performance

Heap Analytics & Product Insights

• Own and optimize Heap instrumentation for accurate event tracking and data governance
• Turn digital engagement data into actionable insights across patient, provider, and payer journeys
• Build funnels, behavioral cohorts, and retention analyses to support product and business decisions
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to define analytics requirements and success metrics

Data Engineering & BI Solutions

• Develop and maintain data models, ETLs, and semantic layers supporting commission and product analytics
• Optimize performance and reliability of BI dashboards and systems
• Establish best practices for data quality, validation, and documentation
• Mentor junior BI engineers and analysts

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Act as a trusted analytics partner to Sales, Finance, Product, and leadership
• Present insights to technical and non-technical audiences
• Support ad-hoc analysis and executive-level reporting requests

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Data Engineering
• Strong SQL and relational data modeling
• Hands-on experience with commission systems (custom or vendor)
• Experience with Heap or similar digital analytics platforms
• Experience building dashboards with Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or equivalent
• Strong understanding of data validation, reconciliation, and audit controls
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a regulated environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare industry experience (payer/provider/life sciences/health tech)
• Experience in HIPAA-compliant data environments
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
• Experience supporting Sales Compensation or Revenue Operations
• Familiarity with Python or dbt for analytics engineering
• Experience working with large-scale event data
