Senior Business Intelligence Analyst (Payments Strategy)

Role overview

Ottimate is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst (Payments Strategy) to become the definitive expert on the company’s payments ecosystem data. You will turn complex, “unclean” financial/payment data into dashboards and forecasts that drive executive strategy, reporting to the Finance Manager and supporting the VP of Payments.

Responsibilities

• Data discovery & preparation: Own analysis that isn’t yet analysis-ready by mapping how and why the numbers move before building charts.
• Payments complexity analysis: Untangle and analyze the nuances of VCC interchange, ACH, and check processing costs to uncover margin opportunities.
• Executive influence: Create the “Story of the Business” for C-suite and department leaders to support high-stakes decisions.
• Behavioral modeling: Build and maintain Power BI dashboards tracking customer/vendor behavior to identify churn risk and growth signals.
• Revenue forecasting: Develop forecasts for interchange revenue and operational savings for quarterly business reviews.
• Optimization strategy: Serve as an internal consultant to recommend resource allocation shifts (e.g., moving high-volume check spend to e-payments).
• Quality assurance: Perform rigorous self-audits and reconciliations to ensure figures are accurate and defensible.

Requirements

• SQL expertise: Expert-level SQL (complex joins, CTEs)
• Reporting & modeling tools: Power BI and Excel (advanced modeling) are mandatory
• Experience: 4+ years in Business Intelligence or Financial Analyst roles
• Executive communication: Experience presenting complex insights to C-level executives and department leads
• Domain knowledge: Prior US payments industry experience (Interchange, ACH, VCC) is a significant advantage
• Audit mindset: Exceptionally high attention to detail with ability to catch discrepancies before stakeholders see them
