About the role
Role Overview
Senior Business & Data Analyst serving as an executive-facing strategic analytics partner for Upgrade’s Flex Pay and broader commercial organization. You will own executive-level deliverables, influence how analytics operates, and help determine where analytics goes next.
Responsibilities
- Analytics & Business Intelligence: Conduct advanced data analysis (mining, trends) to surface actionable business insights.
- KPIs & Performance: Develop and maintain KPIs, performance management frameworks, and data quality standards.
- Advanced Analytics: Perform root-cause analysis, statistical hypothesis testing, and predictive/prescriptive analytics.
- Data Governance: Own data governance and quality assessment practices.
- SQL & Data Engineering:
- Write/optimize complex SQL using CTEs, window functions, joins, and stored procedures.
- Design/maintain data models, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data warehouse structures.
- Validate, reconcile, and transform data to ensure analytical accuracy.
- Forecasting & Reporting:
- Improve forecast accuracy using trend/seasonality and statistical methods.
- Build scenario models to support strategic decisions.
- Create executive dashboards, scorecards, and interactive reports.
- Own QBR preparation and present findings to senior leadership.
- Build scalable automated reporting solutions.
- Business Partnership:
- Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, document processes, and align on priorities.
- Translate technical analysis into business narratives for C-suite leaders.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and support change management.
Requirements
- Advanced SQL skills (complex joins, CTEs, window functions) and query optimization.
- Experience with Tableau, Microsoft Excel, Amazon Redshift, and Databricks.
- Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Claude or ChatGPT) as part of the workflow, including verification and integration into your process.
- Strong statistical analysis, forecasting methodologies, and data modeling background.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT and data warehouse design.
- Ability to connect metrics to business outcomes and identify key performance drivers.
