Senior BI Engineer

Role overview

Senior BI Engineer to design, build, and maintain the business intelligence platform. You will transform data into trusted, actionable insights by defining metrics, creating semantic data models, and delivering intuitive dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into scalable analytical solutions.
• Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports using Metabase.
• Define, document, and maintain business metrics, KPIs, and reporting standards across the organisation.
• Develop and optimise SQL queries for reporting and analytics.
• Design semantic data models and reporting datasets to enable self-service analytics.
• Validate data accuracy and ensure consistency across dashboards and reports.
• Investigate data discrepancies and drive issues to resolution with Data Engineers.
• Analyse business performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
• Promote best practices for BI, reporting, and data visualisation; keep documentation up to date.
• Support stakeholders and drive adoption of BI solutions.
• Contribute to analytics platform improvements (reporting capabilities and data accessibility).

Requirements

• 5+ years in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or a similar role.
• Advanced SQL and experience with large analytical datasets.
• Strong experience building dashboards/reports with Metabase (or similar BI tools).
• Experience with Amazon Redshift and relational databases.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and semantic layer design.
• Experience defining business metrics, KPIs, and reporting standards.
• Ability to independently investigate and resolve business/data issues.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive mindset with strong ownership and accountability.

Nice to have / additional signals

• Experience promoting BI best practices and enabling self-service analytics through well-defined semantic models.
