Senior Backend VPP Software Engineer

About the role

Join our fast-growing company as a Senior Backend VPP Software Engineer. You will be responsible for developing scalable and robust backend services that enable seamless integration of our energy management solutions with various energy markets. You will work collaboratively with product managers, data engineers, and data scientists to create solutions that our customers love. This position offers the opportunity to work in our brand new offices in downtown Hamburg and Berlin, or remotely. Key missions: Entwicklung skalierbarer, robuster Backend-Services zur nahtlosen Integration von Energiemanagementlösungen in verschiedene Energiemärkte.. Zusammenarbeit mit Produktmanagern, Dateningenieuren und Datenwissenschaftlern zur Unterstützung von Entdeckungen und zur Schaffung von Lösungen.. Design und Implementierung von APIs und Abstraktionsschichten für die nahtlose Kommunikation zwischen verschiedenen Komponenten. Profile: - Very strong written and spoken English skills, German is a plus - An agile and product-oriented mindset and you consider yourself a team player - Competence in building virtual power plant infrastructure, including the integration into energy markets (day-ahead, intraday, balancing services, etc) - Proven experience in developing scalable backend solutions with TypeScript from several past projects - A finger on the pulse of software engineering trends and industry best practices - Broad knowledge of various architectural patterns and experience implementing them with CI/CD using GitHub Actions and cloud infrastructure (ideally GCP) - Hands-on experience working with interfaces in the context of energy services (e.g., smart meters, energy optimization, load balancing) - Passion for maintainable, documented, reusable, and testable code - Experience with IaC (ideally Terraform) - Experience Python in the context of Data Engineering or Machine Learning - Experience with IoT applications for grid balancing and demand response
