Senior Backend Software Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Backend Software Engineer for a client in the Information Technology space. You will lead technical work around cloud-enabled scalability, reliability, and delivery excellence, translating complex requirements into practical backend solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize backend storage solutions on AWS
• Build distributed systems, APIs, and backend services for critical applications
• Improve storage efficiency and access patterns with cross-functional teams
• Drive performance tuning, data modeling, and cache strategies
• Troubleshoot production incidents to maintain high availability and disaster recovery
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in design reviews
• Advocate for engineering best practices including CI/CD and observability

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (or similar)
• 5+ years of backend software development
• 3+ years working with AWS storage technologies (e.g., DynamoDB, EBS)
• 3+ years designing/distributing systems or high-scale backend services
• Proficient in Java or Kotlin
• Experience with Agile and CI/CD

Nice-to-Haves

• Strong experience influencing architecture and execution quality
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders

Location / Compensation

• Remote (US-based candidates only); no visa sponsorship
• Compensation: $176,400 – $230,300 annually
