Senior Backend Software Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Backend Software Engineer for a partner company.

• Remote-first, fast-paced engineering team building scalable, cloud-native platforms for enterprise-grade applications.
• Design and develop high-performance backend services and help shape product architecture from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-native backend services using Golang in a microservices architecture.
• Develop and operate distributed systems deployed on Kubernetes across major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of new backend features/services from concept through production.
• Apply CS fundamentals to solve problems in distributed systems, scalability, networking, concurrency, and performance.
• Build secure integrations with enterprise identity/authentication systems (e.g., SSO and Okta/IdPs).
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Promote best practices for reliability, observability, and maintainability.
• Contribute across the stack when needed, especially where backend services interact with infrastructure.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems and cloud microservices.
• Strong Golang proficiency; experience with multiple programming languages.
• Solid foundations: algorithms, data structures, operating systems, networking, concurrency, distributed systems.
• Hands-on Kubernetes deployment/management on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Enterprise application experience with authentication/identity management (e.g., Okta or similar SSO/IdP platforms).
• Ability to lead technical projects and influence architectural decisions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate in ambiguity in a startup environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in fully remote teams.
