About the role
Role overview
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer (GTM Platform), you will build backend platforms and self-serve tooling that help marketing teams launch campaigns, ship landing pages, run experiments, and update content quickly. You will partner with marketers, designers, and PMs to automate high-leverage workflows and deliver platform capabilities that improve velocity and quality without breaking the production funnel.
Key missions
- Own end-to-end development of self-serve tooling that converts repeated marketing requests into reusable platform capabilities.
- Partner cross-functionally with marketers, designers, and PMs to identify the highest-leverage workflows to automate.
- Set and execute the bar for shipping fast while maintaining brand quality and production reliability.
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve self-serve platform tooling for marketing workflows.
- Identify workflow pain points and translate them into engineering automation.
- Ship platform capabilities iteratively and independently, operating effectively as the operating model evolves.
Requirements
- 4+ years of product engineering experience (preferably at a high-growth tech company), including meaningful time on user-facing or platform-tooling work.
- Strong velocity and ownership: ships without supervision and proactively takes on the next problem.
- Comfort with AI/LLM-augmented engineering, including experience building/shipping agentic workflows, MCP servers, or LLM-powered tooling (or a strong opinion on approaches).
- Cross-functional empathy: can observe and understand marketer workflows to build what they need.
- Strong product instincts: can distinguish compounding tooling from busywork; comfortable scoping down and shipping the right 70%.
- Track record building internal tools/platforms that reduce repetitive workflows for non-engineers.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in marketing/growth engineering (CMS, experimentation, paid-ads pipelines, marketing analytics).
- Experience with the modern data stack (e.g., Fivetran, Airflow, Snowflake).
- Experience with MCP servers or agentic systems operating behind production guardrails.
- Experimentation platform experience (LaunchDarkly, Optimizely, Statsig, in-house) and running rigorous A/B tests.
- Background in SEO/AEO engineering, programmatic page generation, or AI-driven content workflows.
- Experience working closely with brand/design teams and delivering pixel-perfect, brand-defining web surfaces.
