Role overview

Senior Backend Software Engineer joining Exoticca’s Trip Management System domain. You’ll build and evolve backend systems that help travel specialists design, configure, and launch complex travel products at scale, with direct impact on revenue performance and margin optimization.

Key missions

• Build and evolve systems that enable travel specialists to design, configure, and launch complex travel products at large scale
• Transform destinations, itineraries, flights, hotels, and services into reliable, structured, sellable products
• Develop and improve capabilities for pricing strategies, booking breakdowns, payments, refunds, and wallet flows

Responsibilities

• Solve real customer and business problems using engineering as a toolbox
• Apply AI effectively in daily work (coding, debugging, design, analysis, automation)
• Ensure visibility and reliability across distributed services using observability (logging, monitoring, tracing)
• Design and implement RESTful APIs with performance and reliability in mind
• Support data-informed decisions via system and API design
• Contribute to event-driven architectures and message-based communication between services
• Emphasize testing (unit and integration) and long-term code quality, scalability, and maintainability

Requirements

• Senior back-end engineering mindset and strong problem-solving ability for ambiguous problems
• Strong RESTful API design, development, and integration best practices
• Testing focus (unit and integration) and commitment to code quality
• Observability practices for distributed systems (logging, monitoring, tracing)
• CI/CD pipeline and Git version control best practices (e.g., GitHub Actions)
• Product-oriented thinking (care about why you build, not just how)
• Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and clean architecture principles
• Event-driven architecture experience (EDA) and message-based service communication
• Backend: PHP and/or C# (or equivalent experience)
• Working effectively across multiple technologies and learning new ones

Nice to have / additional signals

• Experience with AI tooling, LLMs, and automation workflows
• Exposure to frontend/mobile technologies (React, React Native) is mentioned, though the role is primarily back-end
